Mayor Ivan Allen Jr. Atlanta, Georgia
My dear Mayor Allen:
Permit me to express my profound respect and admiration for your testimony before the Senate Commerce Committee on the elimination of descrimination in public accommodations last week.
Your courageous stand, your decency, honesty, and dignity, your respect for the United States Constitution were indeed most heartwarming. I hope that your statements will be given wide publicity and that men of good will all over the country will thereby be encouraged to follow your example.
As President Kennedy said of the nuclear test law treaty,” a shaft of light out through the darkness.”
Very respectfully and gratefully yours,
Lucille Lazar
